Quartz Worktops
Quartz Worktops in London
Quartz worktops combine the look of natural stone with outstanding durability. GMQ Stone supplies, templates and fits quartz kitchen worktops, splashbacks and islands across London, choosing from over 200 colours by Silestone, Caesarstone, Quartzforms, Classic Quartz and Noble Stone.
Why Choose Quartz Worktops?
Engineered quartz is made from up to 93% natural quartz bound with resin. It is harder and more consistent than most natural stones, and it is non-porous, so it resists stains, bacteria and moisture without sealing.
Because every slab is manufactured, the colour and pattern stay consistent from one end of your kitchen to the other. That makes quartz ideal for long runs, islands and matching upstands.
The Benefits of Quartz

Popular Quartz Colours
White quartz worktops are our most requested choice for bright, modern kitchens – try Iconic White (Silestone) or Snow White (Classic Quartz). Calacatta quartz gives the look of marble veining without the upkeep – see Eternal Calacatta Gold (Silestone) or Calacatta Nuvo (Caesarstone). For a bolder look, black and grey quartz such as Absolute Deep Black (Quartzforms) or Turbine Grey (Caesarstone) hide everyday marks well. Use the colour search above to filter by brand, colour or finish.
Quartz Splashbacks, Upstands and Islands
We cut matching quartz splashbacks, upstands and window sills from the same slab as your worktop, so the colour matches exactly. For kitchen islands we can add waterfall ends, overhangs for seating and mitred edges.
Why London Homeowners Choose Quartz
London kitchens work hard. Many are compact, open-plan and used for cooking, homework and entertaining in the same day. Quartz suits this because it does not need sealing, wipes clean in seconds and keeps its colour for years. It also lets you have a white or marble-look kitchen without the upkeep of real marble.
Quartz is a good fit for most kitchen styles. A Victorian terrace in Kensal Rise might suit a soft Calacatta-look quartz with a thin edge, while a new-build flat in Wembley Park might suit a plain white or concrete-effect slab. We help you choose by bringing samples to your home or showing full slabs where possible.
Quartz Worktop Thickness and Edge Profiles
Most of our quartz worktops are 20mm or 30mm thick. 20mm gives a slim, modern look and costs a little less. 30mm feels more solid and suits traditional kitchens and large islands. Some brands, such as Quartzforms, also offer 12mm for an ultra-thin finish.
The edge profile changes how your worktop looks and feels:
- Square or eased edge: a clean, modern line, and the most popular choice.
- Pencil round: a softly rounded edge that is comfortable to lean on.
- Bullnose: a fully rounded edge for traditional kitchens.
- Mitred edge: two pieces joined at 45 degrees so a 20mm slab looks 40mm to 60mm thick, ideal for islands and waterfall ends.
Quartz Finishes: Polished, Honed and Suede
A polished finish reflects light and makes colours look deeper. A honed (matt) finish gives a softer, more natural stone look and hides smudges well. Some brands, including Silestone, offer textured finishes such as Suede that feel smooth and velvety. Honed and textured finishes can show fingerprints and oil marks more than polished ones, so we will explain the care needed before you decide.
Quartz Compared with Granite and Marble
- Look: quartz has a consistent colour and pattern; granite and marble are natural, so every slab is unique.
- Maintenance: quartz needs no sealing; granite needs sealing about once a year; marble needs sealing more often and can etch with acids.
- Heat: granite copes best with heat; quartz and marble should always be protected with a trivet.
- Stains: quartz is non-porous and resists stains best; sealed granite is good; marble is the most likely to mark.
- Price: standard quartz and granite cost about the same; premium quartz and marble cost more.

How Much Do Quartz Worktops Cost?
Prices depend on the brand, colour, thickness (20mm or 30mm), number of cut-outs and edge finish. As a guide, most London kitchens cost between £1,800 and £4,500 supplied and fitted. See our worktop prices guide or send your measurements for an exact quote.
Our Quartz Worktop Process
- Free quote: send us rough measurements, your sink and hob positions and the colour you like. We reply with a clear, no-obligation price.
- Templating: once your base units are fitted and level, we visit to measure precisely. This usually takes under an hour.
- Fabrication: we cut your worktops, sink and hob cut-outs, drainer grooves and upstands in our NW10 workshop, usually within 7 to 10 working days.
- Installation: our own fitters install your worktops, normally in a single day, and seal the joins.
- Aftercare: we show you how to clean and care for your quartz, and we are a phone call away if you need us.
Caring for Your Quartz Worktops
- Wipe daily with warm water, a little washing-up liquid and a soft cloth.
- Use a trivet or pan stand for hot pans, slow cookers and air fryers.
- Use a chopping board. Quartz resists scratches, but knives can still mark it and will blunt quickly.
- Avoid bleach, oven cleaner, limescale removers and abrasive pads, which can dull the surface.
- Remove dried-on food with a plastic scraper rather than a scourer.

Quartz Worktop FAQs
Are quartz worktops heat resistant?+
Quartz handles normal kitchen use well, but sudden high heat can damage the resin. Always use a trivet for hot pans.
How do I clean quartz worktops?+
Warm water, mild washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Avoid bleach, oven cleaner and abrasive pads.
Is quartz better than granite?+
Quartz is more consistent and needs no sealing; granite is natural and more heat-tolerant. Read our quartz vs granite guide.
Do you supply quartz near me?+
We supply and fit quartz worktops across London and Hertfordshire from our NW10 workshop.
How long do quartz worktops last?+
With normal care, a quartz worktop should last for decades. It does not need resealing, so it keeps its finish with very little maintenance.
Can I put a hot pan on quartz?+
We do not recommend it. Quartz contains resin, and sudden high heat can leave a mark or crack the surface. Always use a trivet.
Do quartz worktops stain?+
Quartz is non-porous, so spills such as wine, coffee and oil sit on the surface and wipe away. Clean spills promptly and they should not leave a mark.
Can quartz be used outdoors?+
Most quartz is designed for indoor use, because strong sunlight can fade the resin over time. For outdoor kitchens we usually recommend granite.
Can you fit an undermount sink in quartz?+
Yes. We cut and polish undermount and flush-mount sink openings, tap holes and drainer grooves in our workshop.
Which quartz brand should I choose?+
Silestone and Caesarstone are premium brands with a wide choice of marble-look designs. Classic Quartz offers strong value, and Quartzforms gives Italian designs in several thicknesses. We can compare prices across brands for the same kitchen.
Is quartz safe in the kitchen?+
Finished quartz worktops are safe for food preparation. The health risk linked to quartz is the dust created when slabs are cut, which is a workplace issue for fabricators. Silestone's HybriQ+ range has been developed with lower crystalline silica.
