  • Brand and colour – plain colours cost less than marble-look designs.
  • Thickness – 30mm costs more than 20mm.
  • Cut-outs – sinks, hobs, tap holes and drainer grooves.
  • Upstands and splashbacks – priced separately.
  • Edge profile – standard edges are included; mitred or shaped edges cost extra.
  • Access and removal – stairs, parking and removing old worktops.

Example Kitchen Prices

These examples show how the price builds up for typical London kitchens, using 20mm standard quartz or granite. Your quote will depend on your exact layout and stone.

  • Small galley kitchen, about 3 metres, one sink and one hob cut-out: from around £1,100 to £1,600.
  • Medium L-shaped kitchen, about 5 metres, sink, hob and upstands: from around £1,800 to £2,500.
  • Large kitchen with island, about 8 to 9 metres, waterfall end or overhang for seating: from around £3,200 to £5,000 or more.

Independent 2026 cost guides put a typical 7-metre run with two sink cut-outs, one hob cut-out and a 100mm upstand at £2,800 to £4,800 for mid-range quartz or granite, and note that London labour costs are around 25 to 35 per cent higher than the UK average.

Quartz, Granite or Marble: Which Gives the Best Value?

Standard quartz and granite cost about the same. Quartz is the lower-maintenance choice because it needs no sealing. Granite is natural and copes better with heat. Premium quartz brands such as Silestone and Caesarstone cost more, especially marble-look designs, but many customers find a mid-range quartz gives the same look for less. Marble usually costs the most and needs the most care, so it is best for people who love its natural character. Compare them in our quartz vs granite guide.

How to Save Money

Choose a standard colour, keep to 20mm thickness, and order upstands with your worktops so they're cut from the same slab.

Is It Cheaper to Buy Worktops Online?

Some online companies advertise low prices per metre, but those prices often exclude templating, cut-outs, delivery, fitting or VAT. When you compare quotes, check that each one includes the same items. A local fabricator who templates, cuts and fits everything is also responsible for the result if anything does not fit.
