Marble & Granite Stone Stairs in London

Stone stairs make a lasting first impression. GMQ Stone makes and fits bespoke marble, granite and quartz stair treads and risers for homes across London.

Bespoke Stone Treads and Risers

We template each step individually, because no two staircases are exactly the same. Treads and risers are cut and finished in our NW10 workshop, then fitted by our own team.

Safe and Durable

Stone stairs last for decades. For safety we can add anti-slip grooves or a honed (matt) finish to treads, and rounded (bullnose) front edges for comfort.

Choose Your Stone

  • Marble stairs – elegant and bright, ideal for hallways.
  • Granite stairs – very hard-wearing, good for busy homes and outdoor steps.
  • Quartz stairs – consistent colour that can match your kitchen.

Types of Stone Staircase

  • Straight staircases: the simplest to clad, with matching treads and risers.
  • Winder and curved staircases: each step is a different shape, so we template every tread individually.
  • Floating or cantilevered stairs: a striking modern look; the structure must be designed by your builder or engineer before we fit the stone.
  • Outdoor steps: granite is the best choice because it copes well with frost and rain.

Edges, Finishes and Details

Most stone treads have a bullnose or square front edge, and the edge can be finished to match the rest of your floor. For safety, we recommend a honed or textured finish, anti-slip grooves, or a contrasting strip near the front edge of each step. Landings and hall floors can be made from the same stone so the staircase blends into the space.

How We Make and Fit Your Staircase

  1. Free quote from photos and rough measurements.
  2. A site visit to check the base and template each step.
  3. Cutting and finishing in our NW10 workshop.
  4. Fitting by our own team, step by step, with joints and edges checked as we go.

Timescales depend on the size and shape of the staircase, so we will give you a clear timeline with your quote.

Caring for Stone Stairs

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly, because grit is what scratches stone the most.
  • Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a damp mop.
  • Reseal marble and lighter granites every 6 to 12 months.
  • Use door mats at the entrance to stop grit being walked onto the stairs.
